"...After the class I felt very grounded and rooted on my feet and at the same time being in a higher state of clarity that stayed with me for the whole day. I'm looking forward to learn more about Feldenkrais and take more classes with Lucien."
—Bernhard Guenther
"...In the study of instrumental music it is said that if one wants to play fast, play slow. I think this slow practice in music is comparable to the Feldenkrais concept of slow movements. It is the slow, methodical movements in both that are inextricably linked to the brain, cognitive processing and improved ability. This is fascinating to me. I am thankful for a great movement class."

Change Your Age™ Classes
Every Tuesday from 12pm to 1pm
The more you move, the better off you are. But there is a dilemma. What if you have been exercising but you are hurting or feel stiff and have to work the kinks everyday? What if the kind of movements you're doing will become more difficult as you age? Movements habits such as how we hold tension in our necks or lower back, how inefficiently we breathe, how we pick up a grocery bag, or even how we run or do yoga can contribute to the aging process dramatically. In this Feldenkrais® lessons, you will learn fun movement exercises that will teach you how to improve your body awareness and how to harness that awareness as a tool to transform your functional age by 10 or 15 years! You will feel younger, more graceful, more flexible, more coordinated, and more at ease.

Movement Nature Meant
Every Saturday from 10:30am to 11:30am
Movement is the essence of being alive. Your individual unique way of moving reflects not only the level of wellness but your entire personality, the way you see yourself taking your place in the world.
These Feldenkrais® lessons will allow you to reclaim your birthright to move naturally with ease and comfort, to reclaim what nature meant for you as a human being. Whoever you are in whatever condition with whatever personal history, you can always learn to improve the quality of what you do.
A natural movement emerges through harmonious coordination that feels safe and graceful to you. In these lessons, you rely on your own awareness for learning, your own human talent to imagine the smallest detail of doing. You listen to what is happening inside yourself as you move. You observe the subtle changes which make the big differences. You develop your sensitivity to discern what works best for you. You learn how to ask yourself and you receive the answers from within. This is an autonomous learning process not one of imitation.

"Flow Lab" Sessions
Last Wednesday of every Month from 7:45pm to 9:15pm
These sessions create a space to unwind, breathe, embrace, release, and simply be in an unscripted flow, written by you, moment to moment. We invite participants to explore in an intentional sacred container their spontaneous movement and nonverbal communication with self, other and group. All are welcome, no previous experience required. Inspired by the evolving traditions of ecstatic dance, YUM Sessions, Contact Improv, Feldenkrais, and shamanistic practices. These sessions are co-facilitated by Cedar Laughingbrook and Lucien Demaris.
Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® lessons are a sensory-motor approach to learning based on the premise that becoming more aware of one’s movements, exerting less effort, and moving in more organic ways, can relieve stress, reduce pain, enhance agility and make life more enjoyable. These lessons are helpful and interesting for people at all levels of ability including those who are extremely healthy and those with serious injuries.
Contrasting most movement systems that focus on teaching predefined and static forms, Feldenkrais® focuses on function rather than form and does not have a goal of attaining an ideal body type or physical construction, or achieving "correct" positions or postures. Feldenkrais® is intended to improve the sensibility, awareness and quality of movement through one's own body feedback through diverse, ingenious movement experiments.
It is based on cutting-edge scientific theory and on the understanding of how our brain and nervous system learns, organizes movement and transforms our body, mind and spirit. It is an alternative and complementary approach to physical therapy programs, personal improvement, and fitness training. It helps people of all ages overcome pain and limitation and achieve lifetime fitness and vitality. Feldenkrais® stands today as a new western discipline equal in scope to Yogic practices, martial arts traditions and other psycho-physical approaches to human development that have originated in the East. It bridges
science, arts and education as a true 21st century approach to optimal health, well being, and personal development.
