Lucien Demaris is a Licensed (LMT) and Nationally Certified (NCTMB) bodyworker and also a certified Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® teacher. He has been studying and practicing holistic healing arts, somatic embodiment, and exploring the human potential for over fifteen years in Ecuador, Mexico, and the United States.
His background includes years of apprenticeship and instruction in shamanic traditions of the Americas; Meridian and Bodywork therapies of Asia such as Qi Gong, Shiatsu, Thai and Tuina, as well as Western approaches to manual therapy such as Myofascial Release, Structural Integration and CranioSacral Therapy. The main focus of his work is to care for the whole individual by assessing and treating pain, dysfunction and disability; preventing underlying causes of chronic stress and pain; and empowering his patients with awareness strategies to tap into their body's innate healing ability.
Lucien is currently an Acupuncture clinic intern at Emperor's College Community Clinic in Santa Monica and is completing a Master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. His ongoing studies also include advanced professional training in the Feldenkrais® Method of Somatic Education with renown teacher and clinician from the Berkeley Feldenkrais Movement Institute, Frank Wildman, GCFT, Ph.D. He is pursuing advanced professional training in techniques of manual therapy including Osteopathic methods, Visceral Manipulation, and Fascial & Membrane Technique with renown experts Jean-Pierre Barral, DO, and Rolfer Peter Schwind, Ph.D. at the Barral Institute in Florida.
