Lucien Demaris holds a Master's degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Oriental Medicine (MTOM) and is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner (GCFP). He is also a Nationally Certified (NCTMB) bodyworker with a private practice in Venice Beach. He has been an explorer of human potential through dedicated indigenous studies and embodiment practices for 20 years.
Lucien grew up among the indigenous peoples of Ecuador. Inspired by his mother, who healed herself from chronic illness with indigenous embodiment practices and herbal remedies, he ventured to understand the essence of non-dualistic practices developed by these local indigenous healers. While majoring in Anthropology in college he became an apprentice of Shuar Uwishins (shamans) in the Amazon jungles and with Kichwa Yachags (Inka healers) in the Andean highlands. He later moved to California where he encountered and immersed himself in Moshe Feldenkrais's revolutionary discoveries expressed through the Feldenkrais Method®. Lucien strongly believes in the importance of self-sensing, touch and experiential movement to all aspects of life, which ultimately can lead to greater awareness and to a deeper experience of health and humanity.
Further professional training includes Osteopathic methods Myofascial Release, CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation and structural bodywork based on the form-stabilizing approach of Ida Rolf's Structural Integration (also known as "Rolfing".) It also includes Asian bodywork and meridian therapies Shiatsu, Thai, and Saul David Raye's Yoga teacher training, which eventually led him to master studies in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology with internships at the UCLA Ashe Health Center and at Emperor's College Community Clinic.
Today, through hands-on work and experiential re-education with self-sensing and movement, Lucien is committed to help you regain an intimate connection with your being by improving your physical and mental wellness in a pleasant and effortless way.
