Meridian Therapy

Asian Bodywork Therapy or Meridian Therapy is rooted in Classical Chinese Medical theories of the flow of Qi (the natural vital energy inherent within all living beings) through the meridians. According to these theories, the meridians comprise an invisible lattice, yet embody an energetic informational network, that links together and governs all fundamental substances and organs of the body, and as such, our entire metabolism. Illness arises when the cyclical flow of Qi in a meridian becomes unbalanced or is blocked, much like a dam blocking a river, creating imbalance and pain.

Because the meridian system unifies all the parts of the body, it is essential for the maintenance of the harmonious balance of natural rhythms of the body. The meridians connect the interior of the body with the exterior and can be accessed and manipulated through the most superficial segments. Along these superficial meridians there are specific points known as acupoints. This acupoints are concentrated Qi points that resemble spiraling whirlpools where energy radiates and moves or where it is blocked and deficient.

Meridian Therapy works with the acupoints and meridians. They adjust the flow of Qi in the body, leading it to areas where it is deficient, stuck and/or superabundant. In this way, Meridian Therapy restores the harmonies of the body and its parts. In Chinese, there is a saying, "If there is pain, there is no free flow; if there is free flow, there is no pain." Meridian Therapy promotes and reestablish the free flow of Qi.
