Asian Bodywork Therapy, also known as Meridian Therapy, is rooted in Classical Chinese Medicine, a complete system of healing which has proven its effectiveness in that continent for at least 3,000 years. Asian Bodywork Therapy has evolved over the centuries into separate and distinct modalities or "forms" in China, Japan, Thailand, etc. and more recently, in North America and Europe. Some of the popular known Asian Bodywork Therapies are Tuina (Chinese bodywork), Medical Qi-Gong, Acupressure, Shiatsu (Japanese bodywork), and Nuad Bo-Rarn (Thai massage and bodywork).
Meridian Therapy mainly consists on the application of different pressures to distinct acupoints in the body and gentle stretching of the channels or meridians where these points are localized. These meridians cover the body somewhat like the nerves and blood vessels. Working on an acupoint or meridian will have a predictable effect upon the natural vital energy (Qi) inherent within all living beings. These acupoints and meridians have been mapped in Asia for over a period of 3,000 years, and there are more than 1,000 known acupoints and 32 meridians. In the past 3 decades, electromagnetic research has confirmed the existence and location of these acupoints.
Lucien Demaris' Meridian Therapy is an application of distinct styles of acupressure and gentle stretching. The sessions are deeply healing and powerful. They stimulate the flow of healing energies and they open areas that are blocked helping alleviate common problematic conditions such as lower back pain, arthritis, headaches, digestive difficulties, menstrual problems, and stress-related conditions. Lucien Demaris' Meridian Therapy also generates a deep state of relaxation, promotes centeredness and a state of well-being.
