Visceral Manipulation focuses on releasing restrictions around deeper layers of connective tissue that surround the organs or viscera (the liver, stomach, intestines, etc.), improving the functioning of these individual organs, the systems these organs function within, and the structural integrity of the entire body. All organs have rhytmic motions that can be affected by abnormal tension throughout the body.
Distinguished French osteopath and physiotherapist Jean-Pierre Barral came across an ancient way of working with the internal organs, which he systematized and named Visceral Manipulation. He observed that at optimal health, the relationship between the organs (viscera) and structures of the body (muscles, membranes, fasciae and bones) remains stable despite the body’s endless varieties of motion. But when one organ can’t move in harmony with its surrounding viscera due to abnormal tone, adhesions or displacement, it works against all the body’s organs and structures. This disharmony creates fixed, abnormal points of tension that the body is forced to move around. That chronic irritation, in turn, paves the way for disease and dysfunction.
Lucien's Visceral Manipulation gently encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to dissipate negatives effects on the normal mobility, tone and rhythm of your organs. You also benefit from improved overall health, resistance to disease, and energetic balance. For a Visceral Manipulation session, it is recommended to dress in light, loose confortable clothes that allow for easy breathing and circulation. Using a light and gentle touch, Lucien monitors the rhythms of your organs to detect potential restrictions and imbalances in different listening stations around the abdomen and chest. He then uses delicate manual techniques to release problem areas and relieve undue pressure on the organs. Lucien's Visceral Manipulation can be performed alone or in conjuction with other therapies such as in his Life Integration Series®.
